LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 5, 2011

TO:
Honorable Rob Eissler, Chair, House Committee on Public Education

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1117 by Whitmire (Relating to the prosecution of a parent contributing to the nonattendance of a public school student.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  School districts and open-enrollment charter schools are entitled to one-half of fines paid by a parent convicted of the offense of parent contributing to nonattendance. To the extent that the bill's provisions could affect the number of convictions and fines paid, school districts and charter schools would experience changes in revenue.
