LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 29, 2011

TO:
Honorable Tommy Williams, Chair, Senate Committee on Transportation & Homeland Security

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1532 by Hinojosa (Relating to a photograph on a personal identification certificate, driver's license, or commercial driver's license.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Transportation Code to permit the Department of Public Safety (DPS) to include a laser engraved or color photograph on a personal identification certificate, or a laser engraved photograph on a driver’s license or commercial driver’s license. The bill would take effect September 1, 2011. This analysis assumes DPS could implement the provisions of the bill within existing appropriations.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
