TO:
Honorable Allan Ritter, Chair, House Committee on Natural Resources

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1596 by Wentworth (Relating to changes in participation in public utility agencies.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Local Government Code to authorize a public entity to be added or removed from participating in a public utility agency. Under current statute, the public entities that create a public utility agency may by concurrent ordinances re-create the agency by adding or deleting, or both, a public entity.

A public entity that chooses to be added to a public utility agency would be required to follow established guidelines for the creation of an agency as defined by the provisions of the bill.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
