LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

May 19, 2011

TO:
Honorable Sid Miller, Chair, House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1600 by Whitmire (Relating to the registration of peace officers as private security officers.), Committee Report 2nd House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Occupations Code related to the registration of peace officers as private security officers. The bill would take immediate effect upon receiving two-thirds votes of all members in each house, otherwise taking effect September 1, 2011.

This analysis assumes that any costs associated with implementing the bill's provisions could be met with existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
