SB1619 by Duncan (Relating to participation of public high school students in college credit programs.), As Engrossed

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would continue in effect a provision stating that a school district is not required to pay a student's tuition or other associated costs for taking a dual credit course until September 1, 2013.  The bill would also clarify a provision that currently authorizes a student's attendance in a dual credit course to be counted for the purpose of determining average daily attendance under the Foundation School Program to include a specific reference to courses provided under the college credit program required under Section 29.008, Education Code.  The bill would take effect August 31, 2011.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.  The bill would continue current practice with regard to dual credit course enrollments.
