SB1658 by Hinojosa (Relating to the duties of and investigations conducted by the Texas Forensic Science Commission, the administrative attachment of the Texas Forensic Science Commission to Sam Houston State University, and the accreditation of criminal laboratories by the Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Government Code as they relate to the Texas Forensic Science Commission. The bill would provide guidelines regarding investigations and subsequent recommendations by the Commission. The bill would also establish reporting requirements. The bill would administratively attach the Commission to Sam Houston State University. Texas State University System would also provide administrative support to the Commission as necessary. Provisions of the bill would be implemented within existing resources.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
