Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 14, 2011

TO:
Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee on Criminal Justice

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1687 by Ellis (Relating to information on turnover among licensed jailers at jails under the jurisdiction of the Commission on Jail Standards.  ), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to require each jail under the Texas Commission on Jail Standards' (TCJS) jurisdiction to submit a report containing the number of licensed jailers who left employment at the jail during the previous month, in addition to the other reporting requirements. The Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS) would be required to prescribe a form for the report.

According to TCJS, implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources; therefore, no fiscal impact is anticipated.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
