IN RE:
SB1698 by Williams (Relating to reporting on the population of and the housing costs for certain inmates in county jails.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to require counties to submit a report containing information regarding the population of and housing costs for certain inmates in county jails, including prisoners for whom an immigration detainer has been issued by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, on or before the fifth day of each month to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2011.

Local Government Impact

There could be some additional administrative duties for the reporting requirements, but it would vary depending on what information a county currently includes in the required reports. No significant fiscal implication is anticipated.
