ACTUARIAL IMPACT STATEMENT

82ND LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 28, 2011

TO:
Honorable Vicki Truitt, Chair, House Committee on Pensions, Investments & Financial Services

FROM:
John S O'Brien, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB2561 by Eissler (Relating to the definition of "school year" for purposes of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.), As Introduced

In response to your request for an Actuarial Impact Statement on HB 2561 (relating to the definition of "school year" for purposes of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS) the Pension Review Board (PRB) has determined the following:

HB 2561 would provide for a uniform definition of the school year. TRS states that it would not have a material fiscal impact on the fund. The proposed bill, if enacted, will not have an actuarial impact on the retirement funds administered by TRS because it does not propose to change the funding or obligations of a public retirement system.
