Pursuant to a notice posted on April 5, 2012, the House Committee on Agriculture & Livestock met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Hardcastle, at 10:15 a.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Hardcastle; Isaac; Kleinschmidt; Landtroop; and Miles.

A quorum was present.

The Chair called the meeting to order and welcomed the members and attendees to the Agriculture and Livestock public hearing on interim charge #2:

Study the wildfire response performed by the Texas Forest Service and cooperating state agencies.  Examine specifically how state laws and regulations could be enhanced to improve response effectiveness across the state.  Study both the available causes of wildfires and mitigation and make recommendations as needed.

The Chair recognized Rep. Kleinschmidt to make remarks regarding the interim charge.

At 1:40 p.m., on the motion of Representative Kleinschmidt and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
