Pursuant to an announcement from the House floor on April 1, 2011 and permission granted to meet while the House is in session on April 1, 2011, the House Committee on Redistricting met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Solomons, at 7:38 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Solomons; Villarreal; Alonzo; Alvarado; Branch; Eissler; Harless; Hunter; Keffer; Pena; Phillips; Pickett; and Veasey.

 

A quorum was present.


 

HB 600

 

The chair moved to reconsider all votes previously recorded on the measure. The motion to reconsider prevailed without objection.

 

The committee substitute and the amendment were withdrawn without objection.

 

The chair offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

The chair offered an amendment to the committee substitute.

 

The amendment was adopted without objection.

 

The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendments into a committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Solomons moved that HB 600, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Solomons; Villarreal; Branch; Eissler; Harless; Hunter; Keffer; Pena; Phillips (9).

 

Nays:                           Representatives Alonzo; Alvarado; Pickett; Veasey (4).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        Representatives Aycock; Geren; Hilderbran; Madden (4).

 

At 7:40 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
