Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 18, 2011, the House Committee on Public Education was given permission to meet while the house was in session on May 18, 2011 in a formal meeting.  The meeting was called to order by the chair, Representative Eissler, at 4:25 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Eissler; Allen; Aycock; Huberty; Shelton; Smith, Todd; and Weber.

 

A quorum was present.

SB 4

 

The chair laid out SB 4 as pending business.

 

Representative Shelton offered a complete committee substitute.

 

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

 

Representative Shelton moved that SB 4, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

 

Ayes:                           Representatives Eissler; Aycock; Huberty; Shelton; Smith, Todd; Weber (6).

 

Nays:                           Representative Allen (1).

 

Present, Not Voting:   None (0).

 

Absent:                        Representatives Hochberg; Dutton; Guillen; Strama (4).

 

At 4:35 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
