Pursuant to a notice posted on April 16, 2012, the House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety met in a joint public hearing with the House Committee on Border & Intergovernmental Affairs and was called to order by the chair, Representative Miller, Sid, at 10:33 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Miller, Sid; Fletcher; Beck; Driver; and Flynn.

 

 


 

Interim Charge #1 examines the extent of interstate coordination concerning border security and intelligence sharing to determine whether any changes to state law are needed to enhance that coordination and cooperation.

 

Interim Charge #5 examines state and federal law to determine whether existing provisions adequately address security and efficiency concerns for steamship agencies and land ports of entry along the Texas-Mexico border and evaluates whether the state and the federal government have provided sufficient manpower, infrastructure, and technology to personnel in the border region.
