Pursuant to a notice posted on April 11, 2012, the House Committee on Urban Affairs and the House Committee on Agriculture and Livestock met in a public joint hearing and was called to order by the Chairman of Agriculture and Livestock, Representative Rick Hardcastle and Vice-Chair of Urban Affairs, Representative Carol Alvarado, at 1:21 p.m.
The members that were present were as follows: Representatives Alvarado; and Simpson, Representatives Hardcastle; Anderson; Howard; Hughes; Isaac; Kleinschmidt; Landtroop; Lozano; and Representative Miles.
Interim Charge 1: Evaluate the role of community gardens and urban farming efforts that increase access to healthy foods and examine the possible impact that state and local policies have on the success of programs of this type. Determine the feasibility of policies to support these efforts, especially in high-population areas.

At 4:24 p.m., on the motion of Representative Hardcastle and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
