Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Monday, April 4, 2011, in the E1.714.

The following members arrived after the roll was called:

The chair called the meeting to order at 5:55 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The chair laid out the list of bills recommended for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar to be held April 7, 2011, at 8:00 AM.  The committee recommended the removal of SB 899, SB 990, SB 1034, and SB 1187, which passed on the intent calendar; SB 534, SB 765, and SB 815, which were withdrawn by the authors; and SB 285 and SB 501.

 

Senator Uresti moved that the list of bills recommended for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar to be held April 7, 2011, at 8:00 AM be certified.  The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.  Senator Wentworth requested unanimous consent to be shown voting aye on the bills recommended for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar to be held April 7, 2011, with a motion in writing.

 

At 6:15 PM Senator Uresti assumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business SB 1338 and recognized the author, Senator Eltife, to explain the bill.

 

Senator Zaffirini moved that SB 1338 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.  Senator Wentworth requested unanimous consent to be shown voting aye on SB 1338 with a motion in writing.

 

Senator Zaffirini moved that SB 1338 be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 6:17 PM Senator Eltife assumed the chair.

 

There being no further business, at 6:20 PM Senator Eltife moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
