Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Administration was held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, in the E1.714.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:05 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The chair laid out the list of bills recommended for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar to be held on April 28, 2011, at 8:00 AM.  The committee recommended the removal of SB 1116, SB 1294, and SB 1648.

 

Senator Uresti moved that the list of bill recommended for placement on the Local and Uncontested Calendar to be held on April 28, 2011, at 8:00 AM be certified.  The motion carried with a vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 absent, and 0 present not voting.

 

The chair laid out HB 1844 and recognized the Senate sponsor, Senator Watson, to explain the bill.

 

Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Whitmire moved that HB 1844 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.

 

Senator Ogden moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

Senator Uresti moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Shapiro requested unanimous consent by a motion in writing to be shown voting aye on HB1844, HCR 45, SCR 41, SCR 35, SCR 39, and SCR 25 as long as her vote did not change the outcome of the Committee vote.
