Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Education was held on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.036, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 12:27 PM. The following business was transacted:

 

Senator Florence Shapiro chaired this hearing on Senate Interim Charge #8.

 

The chair called the following invited witnesses to provide testimony on Senate Interim Charge #8: Monitor the implementation of legislation addressed by the Senate Committee on Education, 82nd Legislature, Regular and Called Sessions, and make recommendations for any legislation needed to improve, enhance, and/or complete implementation. Specifically, monitor the following:

The implementation of legislation related to the state's accountability system and other reforms enacted by HB 3, 81st Legislature, Regular Session, and SB 1031, 80th Legislature, Regular Session.  See attached list.

 

The chair called persons who registered as public witnesses to provide testimony on the interim committee charge. See attached list.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed temporarily; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 1:55 PM Senator Florence Shapiro moved that the Committee stand recessed temporarily.

 

At 3:00 PM Senator Dan Patrick re-convened the Committee continuing public testimony.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

There being no further business, at 3:45 PM Senator Dan Patrick moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
