Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on International Relations & Trade was held on Monday, March 7, 2011, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 10:04 AM.

 

At 10:05 AM Senator Rodriguez assumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out SB 508 and recognized the author, Senator Lucio, to explain the bill.

 

Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SB 508 be left pending; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 10:10 AM Senator Lucio, Jr. resumed the chair.

 

At 10:12 AM and the arrival of  Senator Davis and Senator Seliger, a quorum was established and the following business was transacted:

 

Senator Davis moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearing held on February 28, 2011; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 10:13 AM Senator Davis assumed the chair.

 

At 10:13 AM Senator Williams arrived.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SB 508 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 10:15 AM Senator Lucio, Jr. resumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out SCR 5 and recognized the author, Senator Hinojosa, to explain the bill.

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
