Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with
Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on
Nominations was held on Monday, May 23, 2011, in the Capitol Extension, Room
E1.028, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:00 A.M.
There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:
Senator Hegar moved adoption of the minutes from the
previous hearing held on May 16, 2011; without objection, it was so ordered.
Chairman Deuell recognized Senator Royce West to
introduce The Honorable Faith Johnson, nominee to the Cancer Prevention and
Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee.
Chairman Deuell read written remarks by Senator
Watson introducing The Honorable Phil Wilson, nominee to the Cancer Prevention
and Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee.
The nominees to the Cancer Prevention and Research
Institute of Texas Oversight Committee made opening remarks and answered
questions from members of the committee.
Senator Hegar moved that committee vote to approve
the nominations of the individuals to the following entity: Cancer Prevention
and Research Institute of Texas Oversight Committee. The motion carried with a
record vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent.
Senator Hegar moved that committee vote to approve
the non-appearing nominees to the following entities: District Attorney for the
109th Judicial District, Crane and Winkler Counties, Governing Board of the
Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Gulf States Marine Fisheries
Commission, Lavaca-Navidad River Authority, Nueces River Authority Board of
Directors, Product Development and Small Business Incubator Board, San Jacinto
River Authority Board of Directors, Sulphur River Basin Authority, Texas Board
of Chiropractic Examiners, Texas Real Estate Commission, Texas State Board of
Examiners of Marriage and Family Therapists, Texas State Board of Public
Accountancy, and Upper Guadalupe River Authority. The motion carried with a record
vote of 4 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent.
There being no further business, at 8:17 AM Senator
Deuell moved that the Committee be adjourned. Without objection, it was so
ordered.
