Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with HCR 63, a public hearing of the Joint Interim Committee to Study the Public School Finance System was held on Monday, September 24, 2012, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.030 (House Appropriations) in Austin, Texas.

***** Joint Chair Senator Florence Shapiro called the meeting to order at 9:15 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted: |

Senator Florence Shapiro and Representative Jimmie Don Aycock, as Joint Chairs, shared presiding duties throughout the hearing.
Representative Jimmie Don Aycock moved adoption of the minutes from the previous hearing held on July 30, 2012; without objection, it was so ordered.
Senator Florence Shapiro made opening remarks to the Committee.
Senator Florence Shapiro called the following invited witnesses to provide testimony.
See attached list.
At 9:49 AM Representative Jimmie Don Aycock assumed the chair.
At 9:58 AM Senator Florence Shapiro resumed the chair.
Senator Florence Shapiro recognized Commissioner of Education, Michael L. Williams, as being present and welcomed him.
Senator Florence Shapiro recognized Senator Craig Estes as being present and welcomed him.
At 12:03 PM Representative Jimmie Don Aycock assumed the chair.
At 12:36 PM, Representative Jimmie Don Aycock moved that the committee stand in recess temporarily.
The committee reconvened at 12:48 PM.
At 1:07 PM Senator Florence Shapiro resumed the chair.
At 1:33 PM Representative Jimmie Don Aycock assumed the chair.
At 1:36 PM Senator Florence Shapiro resumed the chair.
At 2:20 PM Representative Jimmie Don Aycock assumed the chair.
At 2:37 PM Senator Robert Duncan assumed the chair.
Senator Robert Duncan moved that the invited testimony be closed; without
objection, it was so ordered.
At 3:10 PM Senator Robert Duncan called persons who registered as public witnesses to provide testimony. See attached list.
The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
There being no further business, at 3:35 PM Senator Robert Duncan moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
