A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
|
|
|
AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the composition of districts for the election of |
|
|
members of the Texas House of Representatives. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. The redistricting plan identified as PLANH312 on |
|
|
the redistricting computer system operated by the Texas Legislative |
|
|
Council is adopted as the permanent plan for districts used to elect |
|
|
members of the Texas House of Representatives. |
|
|
SECTION 2. (a) This Act supersedes all previous enactments |
|
|
or orders adopting districts for the Texas House of |
|
|
Representatives. All previous acts of the legislature adopting |
|
|
districts for the Texas House of Representatives are repealed. |
|
|
(b) Chapter 1271 (H.B. 150), Acts of the 82nd Legislature, |
|
|
Regular Session, 2011 (Article 195a-12, Vernon's Texas Civil |
|
|
Statutes), is repealed. |
|
|
SECTION 3. The districts included in the redistricting plan |
|
|
adopted under Section 1 of this Act apply to the election of the |
|
|
members of the Texas House of Representatives beginning with the |
|
|
primary and general elections in 2014 for members of the 84th |
|
|
Legislature. This Act does not affect the membership or districts |
|
|
of the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature. |
|
|
SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|
|
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|
|
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|
|
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|
|
Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the |
|
|
legislative session. |
