R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Lisa B. Morales is stepping down as executive
  director of the Washington's Birthday Celebration Association in
  Laredo on June 30, 2013, drawing to a close 10 years of dedicated
  service to that organization; and
         WHEREAS, First held in 1898, the annual Washington's Birthday
  Celebration in Laredo features three weeks of parades, live
  concerts, a carnival, an air show, and many other festive events
  that reflect the unique heritage of the city and attract hundreds of
  thousands of visitors; the Washington's Birthday Celebration
  Association was chartered in 1923; and
         WHEREAS, Lisa Morales has served the association as executive
  director since May 2003; in addition to running the association's
  office and acting as chief development officer, Ms. Morales has
  worked with the executive board and the group's many volunteers;
  she has also played a leading role in developing the organization's
  award-winning marketing campaigns, expanding the number of events,
  increasing sponsorships, and winning numerous state and national
  awards; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Laredo, Ms. Morales has long been active
  in such community institutions as Leadership Laredo, the Laredo
  Business and Professional Women's Association, and the Council for
  Advancement and Support of Education; she previously served Texas
  A&M International University as the director of development for the
  office of institutional advancement and as an adjunct faculty
  member; and
         WHEREAS, For 10 years, this dynamic civic leader has been a
  skilled and energetic steward of one of Laredo's signature cultural
  events, and she may indeed reflect with pride on a job well done;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Lisa B. Morales for
  her decade of service as executive director of the Washington's
  Birthday Celebration Association and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Morales as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
