R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Corporal Harold Eugene Haywood is retiring from the |
|
Euless Police Department in 2013, drawing to a close an exemplary |
|
tenure in law enforcement that has spanned nearly four decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, Gene Haywood began his career in California, where |
|
he was a sergeant in the police reserves of the Winters Police |
|
Department and a firefighter in Granite Bay; he also served in the |
|
California National Guard for six years; after moving to Texas, he |
|
was employed for a time as a security guard for The University of |
|
Texas Health Science Center; and |
|
WHEREAS, Joining the Euless Police Department in 1981, |
|
Mr. Haywood was first hired as a jailer; he went on to work in the |
|
Criminal Investigation Division and in the Patrol Division, and he |
|
also served on the Tarrant County Auto Theft Task Force; over the |
|
years, Mr. Haywood helped establish and manage the department's |
|
Field Training Program, and he played an instrumental role in the |
|
creation of the Euless Honor Guard; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Haywood was promoted to corporal in 1993, and |
|
since 2001, he has served as the school resource officer at Keys |
|
Learning Center; certified as an instructor and as a master police |
|
officer, he has received numerous commendations and he has twice |
|
been nominated for officer of the year; in addition, he has served |
|
on the board of the Euless Peace Officers Association, which helps |
|
raise money for worthy causes; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Haywood has enjoyed the |
|
love and support of his wife, Betty, and their two daughters; and |
|
WHEREAS, Gene Haywood's dedication, professionalism, and |
|
commitment to preserving the safety and welfare of the public have |
|
greatly benefited the citizens of Euless, and he may indeed reflect |
|
with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next exciting |
|
chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Corporal |
|
Harold Eugene Haywood on his retirement from the Euless Police |
|
Department and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Corporal Haywood as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
