R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Kierra Anjoyah Williams has been crowned the |
|
|
2013-2014 Tribal Princess for the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Kierra Williams will reign over such events as the |
|
|
45th Annual Powwow, an important cultural celebration that features |
|
|
Native American dancers from across the United States and allows |
|
|
the general public to enjoy tribal artistry; she will serve as an |
|
|
ambassador to the wider community throughout the year as well; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 16-year-old daughter of Kyle and Glenda Williams |
|
|
of the Alabama-Coushatta Reservation, Ms. Williams is a rising |
|
|
junior at Big Sandy High School, where she is very active in the |
|
|
Indian Culture Club; in addition, she plays basketball and |
|
|
softball; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Dedicated to the rich heritage of the |
|
|
Alabama-Coushatta Tribe, Kierra Williams is helping to carry on |
|
|
vital traditions and serving as a role model to other young people, |
|
|
and she is a source of great pride to her parents and her community; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Kierra |
|
|
Anjoyah Williams on her selection as the 2013-2014 Tribal Princess |
|
|
for the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas and extend to her sincere |
|
|
best wishes for the coming year; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Williams as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
