R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Helen |
|
Butts Tipps, who passed away on June 4, 2013, at the age of 82; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of San Augustine, Helen Butts was born to |
|
Bryan and Leola Butts on January 9, 1931; she attended The Hockaday |
|
School in Dallas and went on to earn a degree in Texas history from |
|
Southern Methodist University, where she was a member of Kappa |
|
Alpha Theta; she lived in Houston for many years before moving to |
|
Austin in 2000 to be close to family; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Tipps took great pride in her three children, |
|
Helen, Clark, and Mary, her three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Will, |
|
and Maggie, and her three great-granddaughters, Elise, Katherine, |
|
and Anna; she was also devoted to her dog, Ginger; in addition, |
|
Mrs. Tipps was a lifelong member of the Junior League, the |
|
Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Daughters of the |
|
Republic of Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Helen Butts |
|
Tipps will remember how she touched their lives with her kind and |
|
caring ways, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their |
|
hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |
|
Helen Butts Tipps and extend sincere condolences to the members of |
|
her family: to her children, Helen Tipps Watkins and her husband, |
|
Sandy, Clark Tipps, and Mary Tipps; to her grandchildren, Elizabeth |
|
Watkins Garrett and her husband, Jacob, Will Watkins, and Maggie |
|
Watkins; to her great-grandchildren, Elise, Katherine, and Anna |
|
Garrett; to her sister, Sue Butts McEachern, and her husband, Ray |
|
Neal; and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Helen Butts |
|
Tipps. |
