R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Chuck Davidson of Houston has made a positive and
  lasting difference in his community through his contributions as a
  teacher, as a volunteer, and as a caring citizen; and
         WHEREAS, This native New Yorker arrived in the Lone Star
  State in 1968 to perform community work for the Presbyterian
  church; four years later, he embarked on his career in education at
  Ashford Elementary School, where he taught many young Texans over
  the course of a tenure that spanned three decades; in addition to
  his duties in the classroom, Mr. Davidson coached softball and
  participated in numerous school activities, and along the way he
  earned a master's degree from Houston Baptist University; and
         WHEREAS, A resident of the Spring Branch community since
  1976, Mr. Davidson began volunteering at Spring Woods High School
  after his retirement from teaching in 2000; he contributed his time
  and talents to work with the school's sporting events, senior class
  activities, and athletic and band booster clubs; moreover, he
  created the Spring Branch Independent School District Good Neighbor
  program, which recognizes those individuals, businesses, and
  organizations that actively support local schools; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Davidson also played an instrumental role in the
  creation of the Spring Branch North Super Neighborhood initiative,
  and in his role as president of that organization, he acted as a
  liaison between city officials and area residents; he served in a
  leadership role with the Spring Shadows Civic Association as well,
  and he is a valued member of the Spring Branch Presbyterian Church,
  where he is an elder and the head of the Service Ministry team; a
  charter member and former president of the Houston Northwest Lions
  Club, he oversaw the collection of more than 27,000 pairs of
  eyeglasses for distribution to the disadvantaged; and
         WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Mr. Davidson enjoys the
  love and support of his wife, Beverly, with whom he has shared 37
  years, and he takes great pride in their children, Ronald,
  Christina, Alexa, and Vera, as well as in their five grandchildren
  and two great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Chuck Davidson has contributed to his fellow
  citizens through a lifetime of purposeful endeavor, and in so
  doing, he has set an inspiring example of civic engagement,
  leadership, and generosity; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Chuck Davidson for
  his outstanding service to his community and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Davidson as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
