R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, A strong work ethic and a commitment to academic |
|
excellence enabled Austin Gardner and Christopher Stanaland of El |
|
Paso to excel in their participation in the NASA High School |
|
Aerospace Scholars program; and |
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by NASA and funded by the State of Texas, |
|
the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and Rotary NASA, the program |
|
fosters interest in science, technology, engineering, and math |
|
careers among high school students; and |
|
WHEREAS, Participants are mentored online by NASA personnel |
|
as they take part in web-based lessons covering the space shuttle, |
|
the International Space Station, and the exploration of the moon |
|
and Mars; students who complete the lessons participate in a |
|
six-day workshop at the Johnson Space Center in Houston; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Gardner, a student at Coronado High School, and |
|
Mr. Stanaland, a student at Transmountain Early College High |
|
School, are moving toward the front ranks of the next generation of |
|
scientists and engineers through their participation in this |
|
prestigious program, and each young man is a source of great pride |
|
to his family and his school; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Austin |
|
Gardner and Christopher Stanaland on their participation in the |
|
NASA High School Aerospace Scholars program and extend to them |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success in all their endeavors; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared |
|
for Mr. Gardner and Mr. Stanaland as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
