R E S O L U T I O N

|
|
WHEREAS, Whitney Shantel Shaffer graduated as valedictorian |
|
|
of the 2013 senior class of Highland Park High School in Amarillo, |
|
|
and she truly merits special recognition for her impressive |
|
|
achievements; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the |
|
|
highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Ms. |
|
|
Shaffer demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of |
|
|
subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to |
|
|
her studies are myriad; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to the pride inherent in being |
|
|
recognized as the highest achieving student in her class, |
|
|
Ms. Shaffer gained the opportunity to address her fellow seniors at |
|
|
commencement and to reflect on their shared history as well as their |
|
|
hopes and ambitions for the future; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of Diane Jaramillo, Whitney Shaffer has |
|
|
earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at |
|
|
Highland Park High School, and her exceptional scholastic ability, |
|
|
hard work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to |
|
|
limitless opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Whitney |
|
|
Shantel Shaffer, valedictorian of the Highland Park High School |
|
|
Class of 2013, and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
|
success as she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Shaffer as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
