R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Andrew Lee Jones graduated as valedictorian of the |
|
|
senior class of Panhandle High School on May 31, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the |
|
|
highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Mr. |
|
|
Jones has demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of |
|
|
subjects; he has especially excelled in science and won distinction |
|
|
in a number of University Interscholastic League contests, most |
|
|
recently taking a silver medal in biology at the 2013 State Academic |
|
|
Spring Meet; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Jones served his fellow students as president of |
|
|
the senior class, as treasurer of the National Honor Society, and as |
|
|
a member of the student council; a gifted athlete, he ran track, |
|
|
qualified for regionals in cross-country, and played basketball; he |
|
|
also competed as a member of the debate team; he is an Eagle Scout |
|
|
who contributes to the betterment of his community through service |
|
|
with the First United Methodist Church Youth and the Carson County |
|
|
Youth Leadership Advisory Board; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Craig and Astrid Jones, Mr. |
|
|
Jones plans to pursue a degree in biology at Texas Tech University; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout his academic career, Andrew Jones has |
|
|
earned the respect and admiration of his teachers and classmates at |
|
|
Panhandle High School, and his exceptional scholastic ability, hard |
|
|
work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless |
|
|
opportunities for this outstanding young Texan; now, therefore, be |
|
|
it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Andrew Lee |
|
|
Jones, valedictorian of the Panhandle High School Class of 2013, |
|
|
and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success as he |
|
|
begins the next exciting chapter of his life; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Jones as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
