R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Erica Newman graduated as the salutatorian of the
  senior class of Sanford-Fritch High School in Fritch on May 31,
  2013; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
  highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction,
  Ms. Newman demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of
  subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to
  her studies are myriad; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to her success in the classroom,
  Ms. Newman has distinguished herself as a member of the National
  Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars; a
  versatile athlete, she has played volleyball, basketball, and
  softball, and she has advanced to regional competition in both
  cross-country and golf; she has also served as vice president of the
  Business Professionals of America and advanced to state Workplace
  Skills Assessment Program events in medical office procedures and
  fundamental word processing; having earned numerous awards and
  scholarships, Ms. Newman plans to attend Oklahoma Panhandle State
  University and pursue a double major in chemistry and biology; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Erica Newman has
  earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at
  Sanford-Fritch High, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard
  work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless
  opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be
  it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Erica Newman,
  salutatorian of the Sanford-Fritch High School Class of 2013, and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she
  begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Newman as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
