R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Devin DeLapp is graduating as salutatorian of the
  senior class of West Texas High School on May 31, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude but also four years of dedication to the
  highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction,
  Ms. DeLapp has demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide
  range of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has
  devoted to her studies are myriad; in addition to maintaining a 4.0
  grade point average, she has completed 15 credit hours with Frank
  Phillips College; this dynamic young woman has also participated in
  University Interscholastic League events, qualifying for state in
  poetry interpretation and for regionals in persuasive speaking and
  earning All-Star Cast recognition at the 2012-2013 UIL One-Act Play
  state meet; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. DeLapp has further distinguished herself
  through numerous sporting activities, including cheerleading,
  basketball, softball, and track; for her outstanding athletic
  achievement, the National Cheerleaders Association named her an
  All-American Cheerleader three times and a Top All-American
  Cheerleader in 2011; moreover, she has been honored as a Borger News
  Herald Athlete of the Week and as a Globe-News Scholar Athlete, been
  selected for both softball and volleyball First Team All-District,
  and been a top regionals finalist in track for three consecutive
  years; demonstrating notable leadership, Ms. DeLapp has served as
  president of the student council, vice president and president of
  the National Honor Society, and captain of the cheerleading squad;
  following her graduation, she plans to study mass communication and
  business at the University of Oklahoma and hopes to one day attend
  law school; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Renea and Dale Founds
  and Lee DeLapp, Devin DeLapp has earned the respect and admiration
  of teachers and classmates alike, and her exceptional scholastic
  ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have opened the
  way to limitless opportunities for this outstanding young Texan;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Devin DeLapp
  on being named salutatorian of the West Texas High School Class of
  2013 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as
  she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. DeLapp as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
