R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Owen William Bludau of Bay City is retiring as |
|
executive director of the Matagorda County Economic Development |
|
Corporation on June 28, 2013, following eight years of |
|
distinguished service in that position; and |
|
WHEREAS, Since joining the MCEDC, Mr. Bludau has been |
|
dedicated to its mission of growing Matagorda County through the |
|
recruitment of new industries and commercial businesses and the |
|
expansion of existing businesses; under his able leadership, the |
|
group helped to bring a manufacturing plant to the area, which |
|
included a $1.3 billion investment and the creation of 600 new jobs; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Known for his dedication to his work, he has |
|
sacrificed holidays, weekends, and many late nights for the benefit |
|
of his community, and in recognition of his exceptional efforts |
|
with MCEDC, he earned the 2012 George Holst Award for contributions |
|
to Matagorda County; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Bludau is a graduate of The University of Texas |
|
at Austin and a veteran of the U.S. Army; after completing a |
|
master's program in urban and regional planning at Virginia Tech |
|
University, he earned his master's degree in business |
|
administration from Wake Forest University; his notable career has |
|
included tenures in land use and development, environmental |
|
planning, and military base economic redevelopment; and |
|
WHEREAS, Owen Bludau has made a positive difference in the |
|
lives of his fellow citizens, and he may take justifiable pride in a |
|
job well done as he looks ahead to the next exciting chapter of his |
|
life; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Owen William |
|
Bludau on his retirement as executive director of the Matagorda |
|
County Economic Development Corporation and extend to him sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Bludau as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
