R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, May 23, 2013, marked the 60th wedding anniversary of |
|
|
Dan and Carolyn Metcalf of Mineola, and their memorable journey |
|
|
together as husband and wife is indeed deserving of special |
|
|
recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf were joined in matrimony in |
|
|
1953 at a ceremony held at First Baptist Church in Garland; over the |
|
|
years, they have been blessed with a treasured family that includes |
|
|
two children, Katherine and Kyle Metcalf, and a granddaughter, |
|
|
Kyndal Metcalf; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A founding member and former president of the Yantis |
|
|
Lions Club, Mr. Metcalf served two terms on the Yantis Independent |
|
|
School District board and is retired following a 30-year career |
|
|
with Texas Instruments; in his leisure time, he enjoys working with |
|
|
computers; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Metcalf retired from the Richardson |
|
|
Independent School District after three decades as an educator, |
|
|
once winning the Teacher of the Year Award; an active congregant of |
|
|
the First Baptist Church, she belongs to the Retired Teachers |
|
|
Association of Wood County, volunteers with Caring and Sharing, and |
|
|
is an avid reader; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 60 years of marriage that Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf |
|
|
have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of love and |
|
|
commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration to all who |
|
|
know them; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Dan and |
|
|
Carolyn Metcalf on their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to |
|
|
them sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it |
|
|
further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Metcalf as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
