R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Molly McShane, a sophomore at Kingwood High School |
|
in the Humble Independent School District, completed a notable |
|
service project as a member of the 2012-2013 Lone Star Youth |
|
Leadership Council; and |
|
WHEREAS, An alumni organization for young people who have |
|
attended Lone Star Leadership Academy camps, the council provides |
|
an opportunity for students to continue their leadership training |
|
during the school year; members recently completed online |
|
leadership lessons, sold scholarship fund-raiser tickets, and |
|
proposed, planned, and carried out service projects; and |
|
WHEREAS, This was Ms. McShane's third year on the council, |
|
and she enlisted the help of her Bible study group to organize her |
|
project; calling it "Patient Play," she gathered more than 100 |
|
board games and donated them to the Texas Children's Hospital |
|
library, greatly expanding the activities available to patients; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, Demonstrating compassion and initiative, Molly |
|
McShane has made a small yet meaningful difference in the lives of |
|
numerous young Texans, and it is a pleasure to honor her for her |
|
dedication to the greater good; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Molly McShane for |
|
her involvement with the Lone Star Youth Leadership Council and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. McShane as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
