R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The La Grange High School baseball team proved
  itself one of the finest in Texas by claiming the 2013 University
  Interscholastic League 3A state championship on June 6 at Disch
  Falk Field in Austin; and
         WHEREAS, After clinching a playoff berth on the last day of
  the regular season, the Leopards demonstrated composure and
  determination as they advanced through the 3A bracket, recording
  three come-from-behind wins en route to the state tournament; and
         WHEREAS, Following an 8-3 semifinal win over Silsbee High
  School, La Grange faced the defending champions from Pleasant Grove
  High School in Texarkana with the state title on the line; in an
  impressive demonstration of offensive firepower, every member of
  the Leopards starting lineup reached base at least once, a feat they
  had also achieved in the semifinals; the team pushed 10 runs across
  the plate in the tournament final while the stellar pitching of the
  game's Most Valuable Player, Logan Vinklarek, held the opposing
  batters to six hits and two runs; the result was a commanding
  victory that gave La Grange High School its fourth state baseball
  championship; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Vinklarek was joined on the All-Tournament Team
  by Trey Supak, Landon Gerik, Chris Raborn, Tanner Fritsch, and
  Kolby Kolek; valuable contributions were also made throughout the
  year by the other members of the roster: Will Davidson, Austin
  Colon, Ty Beseda, Dustin Drab, Adam Robinson, Riley Grayson, Blake
  Harbers, Dalton Burton, Rustin Heger, and Kyle Oltmann; and
         WHEREAS, The La Grange players were guided by head coach Brad
  Harbers, a former Leopards ballplayer who had the thrill of winning
  the state crown in his final year at the helm; the team also
  benefited from the expertise of assistant coaches Ben Ahrens and
  Wayne Schmidt; and
         WHEREAS, The exceptional young athletes of the La Grange High
  School baseball team have demonstrated the commitment and ability
  of true champions, and their achievements in 2013 will be
  remembered with great delight in the local community for many years
  to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate the La Grange
  High School baseball team on winning the UIL 3A state title and
  extend to the team's players, coaches, and staff sincere best
  wishes for continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
