R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Carmen Garza of Hebbronville is celebrating a
  special milestone on October 6, 2013, when she turns 100 years old;
  and
         WHEREAS, Born a century ago to Juan Garcia Medrano and Maria
  de los Angeles Barrios de Garcia, she married Benito Garza on March
  18, 1929, in Realitos; while her husband served in the Philippines
  during World War II and later as a deputy sheriff in Jim Hogg
  County, Mrs. Garza dedicated herself to her home and her family;
  over the course of the couple's nearly six decades together, they
  became the parents of six children, Oscar, Anita, Lidia, Hilda,
  Benito, and Ciria; Mr. Garza passed away in 1987; and
         WHEREAS, Today, Mrs. Garza is the cherished matriarch of a
  devoted circle of loved ones that has grown to include 19
  grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 14
  great-great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Carmen Garza is a source of tremendous inspiration,
  and in sharing the experience gained through a century of life well
  lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that benefits all who
  are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Carmen Garza
  on the joyous occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her
  sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
