R E S O L U T I O N

|
WHEREAS, Carmen Garza of Hebbronville is celebrating a |
|
|
special milestone on October 6, 2013, when she turns 100 years old; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born a century ago to Juan Garcia Medrano and Maria |
|
|
de los Angeles Barrios de Garcia, she married Benito Garza on March |
|
|
18, 1929, in Realitos; while her husband served in the Philippines |
|
|
during World War II and later as a deputy sheriff in Jim Hogg |
|
|
County, Mrs. Garza dedicated herself to her home and her family; |
|
|
over the course of the couple's nearly six decades together, they |
|
|
became the parents of six children, Oscar, Anita, Lidia, Hilda, |
|
|
Benito, and Ciria; Mr. Garza passed away in 1987; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Today, Mrs. Garza is the cherished matriarch of a |
|
|
devoted circle of loved ones that has grown to include 19 |
|
|
grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and 14 |
|
|
great-great-grandchildren; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Carmen Garza is a source of tremendous inspiration, |
|
|
and in sharing the experience gained through a century of life well |
|
|
lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that benefits all who |
|
|
are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Carmen Garza |
|
|
on the joyous occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. Garza as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
