R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, D'Andrea Maris Escobar graduated as salutatorian of |
|
|
the senior class of Falfurrias High School on June 1, 2013; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the |
|
|
highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Ms. |
|
|
Escobar demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of |
|
|
subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to |
|
|
her studies are myriad; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition to the pride inherent in being |
|
|
recognized as one of the two highest achieving students in her |
|
|
class, Ms. Escobar has gained the opportunity to address her fellow |
|
|
seniors at commencement and to reflect on their shared history as |
|
|
well as their hopes and ambitions for the future; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Active in her community, Ms. Escobar serves as a |
|
|
Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and has |
|
|
generously volunteered her time to such worthwhile causes as the |
|
|
Coastal Bend blood drive, the Toys for Tots golf tournament, and |
|
|
Breast Cancer Awareness Month; she plans to continue her education |
|
|
at Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in rangeland ecology and |
|
|
management; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, D'Andrea Escobar |
|
|
has earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and |
|
|
classmates at Falfurrias High, and her exceptional scholastic |
|
|
ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have opened the |
|
|
way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; |
|
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate D'Andrea |
|
|
Maris Escobar, salutatorian of the Falfurrias High School Class of |
|
|
2013, and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as |
|
|
she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Escobar as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
