R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, D'Andrea Maris Escobar graduated as salutatorian of
  the senior class of Falfurrias High School on June 1, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of salutatorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
  highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction, Ms.
  Escobar demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of
  subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours she has devoted to
  her studies are myriad; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to the pride inherent in being
  recognized as one of the two highest achieving students in her
  class, Ms. Escobar has gained the opportunity to address her fellow
  seniors at commencement and to reflect on their shared history as
  well as their hopes and ambitions for the future; and
         WHEREAS, Active in her community, Ms. Escobar serves as a
  Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and has
  generously volunteered her time to such worthwhile causes as the
  Coastal Bend blood drive, the Toys for Tots golf tournament, and
  Breast Cancer Awareness Month; she plans to continue her education
  at Texas A&M University to pursue a degree in rangeland ecology and
  management; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, D'Andrea Escobar
  has earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and
  classmates at Falfurrias High, and her exceptional scholastic
  ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have opened the
  way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young Texan;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate D'Andrea
  Maris Escobar, salutatorian of the Falfurrias High School Class of
  2013, and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as
  she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Escobar as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
