R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Taylor D. Buchanan graduated as valedictorian of
  the 2013 senior class at Raymondville High School, and he truly
  merits special recognition for this impressive achievement; and
         WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only
  intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the
  highest academic standards; to attain this coveted distinction,
  Mr. Buchanan demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range
  of subjects, and the rewards of the countless hours he devoted to
  his studies are myriad; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to excelling in his schoolwork,
  Mr. Buchanan has served for five years as the head youth
  coordinator at the Raymondville First United Methodist Church
  vacation Bible school, and he has also volunteered at an autism
  awareness event, a children's literacy promotion fair, and an
  annual music festival; in recognition of his academic
  accomplishments and civic involvement, he was awarded a scholarship
  from the Terry Foundation, which he plans to use as he pursues a
  degree in kinesiology at The University of Texas at San Antonio; his
  ultimate goal is to become a certified physical therapist and to
  open his own clinic; and
         WHEREAS, The son of proud parents Debbie and Doug Buchanan,
  Taylor Buchanan has earned the respect and admiration of his
  teachers and classmates at Raymondville High, and his exceptional
  scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have
  opened the way to limitless opportunities for this outstanding
  young Texan; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Taylor
  D. Buchanan, valedictorian of the Raymondville High School Class of
  2013, and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success as
  he begins the next exciting chapter of his life; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Buchanan as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
