R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Kirby Jerome Portley was awarded his juris doctor |
|
degree from St. Mary's University School of Law on May 18, 2013, and |
|
he has been admitted to the State Bar of Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, |
|
Mr. Portley earned a bachelor's degree in philosophy and lettered |
|
in football for four years; he went on to distinguish himself during |
|
law school as a member of The Scholar: St. Mary's Law Review on Race |
|
and Social Justice; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Portley has served as a law clerk for Lloyd |
|
Gosselink Rochelle & Townsend in Austin, for the Lower Colorado |
|
River Authority, and for the United States Attorney's Office for |
|
the Eastern District of Texas; in addition, he has been a summer |
|
legal intern for the United States Department of Justice and for the |
|
Federal Communications Commission in Washington, D.C., and a summer |
|
judicial intern for the Texas Thirteenth Court of Appeals; his |
|
experience further includes service as a committee clerk and as a |
|
legislative intern for the Texas House of Representatives and as a |
|
legal assistant for the firm of Clark, Thomas & Winters; and |
|
WHEREAS, Preparing to embark on an exciting new chapter in |
|
his life, Kirby Portley may reflect with pride on all he has |
|
accomplished thus far and look with anticipation toward a bright |
|
future; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Kirby Jerome |
|
Portley on his graduation from St. Mary's University School of Law |
|
and his admission to the State Bar of Texas and extend to him |
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Portley as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
