R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Marie Hendricks Payne of Lake Jackson is reaching a |
|
|
special milestone on June 17, 2013, when she marks her 100th |
|
|
birthday; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Born a century ago to Jesse Banks and Mary Ida |
|
|
Hendricks, the former Marie Hendricks grew up on a farm in Oklahoma; |
|
|
on July 18, 1931, at the age of 18, she married Clifford Payne; the |
|
|
couple shared more than six decades together and were blessed with a |
|
|
daughter, Mary Helen; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Payne has dedicated herself to her home and to |
|
|
her family, which today includes two grandchildren, Gail and Donna; |
|
|
a resident of the Lake Jackson community for 70 years, she is known |
|
|
for her strong faith and is a valued member of First Baptist Church |
|
|
of Clute; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Marie Payne is a source of tremendous inspiration, |
|
|
and in sharing the experience gained through a century of life well |
|
|
lived, she bestows a precious gift of wisdom that benefits all who |
|
|
are fortunate enough to know her; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas |
|
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Marie |
|
|
Hendricks Payne on the joyous occasion of her 100th birthday and |
|
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mrs. Payne as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
