R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, The 50th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed a
  special occasion, and Sylvana Avila Alonzo of Dallas is marking
  this significant milestone in her life on June 27, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of Jose Maria Avila and Lucila Flores
  Avila, the former Sylvana Avila grew up in Crystal City and attended
  Texas Tech University before earning her bachelor's degree from The
  University of Texas at Dallas; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Alonzo's multifaceted career has included
  tenures as editor of Tejano Magazine, director of marketing and
  public relations at the Alonzo Law Firm, and host of Las Nuevas
  Morning Show on the 411 Reality Radio Network; she has also served
  as head of the Oak Cliff Coalition for the Arts, a nonprofit
  organization dedicated to promoting artistic initiatives and
  education in Dallas; the coalition presents the annual Oak Cliff
  Cinco de Mayo Big Parade and Street Fest, and she has helped to
  bring the event to fruition for many years; and
         WHEREAS, In all of her endeavors, Ms. Alonzo cherishes the
  love and support of her family, which includes her husband, State
  Representative Roberto R. Alonzo, and her children, Roberto
  R. Alonzo, Jr., Maria Xiomara Alonzo, and Jose Maria Emeterio
  Alonzo; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of half a century, Sylvana Alonzo
  has distinguished herself as a successful professional, a dedicated
  wife and mother, and a valued member of her community, and her 50th
  birthday provides a fitting occasion to recognize this accomplished
  woman; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Sylvana Avila
  Alonzo on her 50th birthday and extend to her sincere best wishes
  for continued good fortune and happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Alonzo as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
