SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 25
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Rudolph Zapata
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Rudolph Zapata, who
  died May 27, 2013, at the age of 78; and
         WHEREAS, Rudy Zapata was born on June 2, 1934, in Taylor,
  Texas; a longtime Austinite, he became a well-known leader in his
  community and was noted for helping the youth of East Austin; he
  was a recipient of the Sertoma Service to Mankind Award; and
         WHEREAS, Rudy was retired from his 44-year career with
  Austin Travis County Integral Care; he had also been employed at
  the Pan American Recreation Center; throughout his life, he was a
  hard worker who was dedicated to both his professional career and
  his volunteerism; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, Rudy was a generous,
  kindhearted person who was respected in the community for his
  accomplishments; and
         WHEREAS, He was devoted to his family, and he and his wife,
  Lydia, were blessed with eight children, 22 grandchildren, and
  eight great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he
  gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,
  and valued counsel will not be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, Rudy Zapata was beloved by many, and he leaves
  behind memories that will be treasured forever by his family and
  friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
  condolences to the bereaved family of Rudolph Zapata; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the
  Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do
  so in memory of Rudy Zapata.
