SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 36
|
|
WHEREAS, Charles Swearengen is concluding his longtime |
|
service on the Hurst City Council in 2013, and this occasion |
|
provides a welcome opportunity to recognize him for his many |
|
contributions in behalf of his fellow citizens; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Swearengen has been the Place 1 council member |
|
for the past 30 years, providing valuable leadership on crucial |
|
issues and helping to address the needs of city residents; he has |
|
further contributed to the community as chair of the City of |
|
Hurst Finance and Investment Committee and as director of the |
|
city's Community Services Development Corporation; moreover, he |
|
has served as a member of the Hurst-Euless-Bedford Chamber of |
|
Commerce board and as Hurst's representative on the North Central |
|
Texas Council of Governments and has participated in numerous |
|
other organizations addressing crime, regional infrastructure, |
|
and other subjects; and |
|
WHEREAS, A native of Fort Worth and a graduate of Texas |
|
Christian University, Mr. Swearengen worked for Lockheed Martin |
|
for 38 years before retiring and has resided in Hurst for 53 |
|
years; he has attended First United Methodist Church of Hurst |
|
since 1959 and is also active in Hurst Lodge 1387 Ancient Free and |
|
Accepted Masons; blessed with a fine family, he enjoys the love |
|
and support of his wife, Gwendolyn, his daughter Charlene |
|
Fitzgerald and her husband, Charles, his daughter Rachel Cox and |
|
her husband, Jon, and his grandchildren, John and David |
|
Fitzgerald and Elizabeth and Jon Cox; and |
|
WHEREAS, Charles Swearengen's dedication, insight, and |
|
commitment to public service have greatly benefited the people of |
|
Hurst, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his outstanding |
|
tenure on the city council; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd |
|
Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the Honorable |
|
Charles Swearengen on his achievements as a member of the Hurst |
|
City Council and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
Mr. Swearengen as an expression of high regard from the Texas |
|
Senate. |
