SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 42
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Roman Soto Mercado
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Roman Soto Mercado, who died May 17,
  2013, at the age of 78; and
         WHEREAS, Roman Mercado was born on October 13, 1934, in
  Fort Worth to Roman and Atilana Mercado; he grew up in Fort Worth
  and graduated from Green B. Trimble Technical High School; and
         WHEREAS, Following his graduation, Mr. Mercado joined the
  United States Army, and he spent much of his time overseas in
  Germany and France; and
         WHEREAS, After his military service, he had a successful
  career with the United States Postal Service, where he was a
  loyal and well-respected employee for more than 30 years; and
         WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, Mr.
  Mercado gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and
  kindness will long be remembered by all who had the good fortune
  to know him; and
         WHEREAS, Roman Mercado was a steadfast friend and a devoted
  husband; he is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Helen
  Flores Mercado, two siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere
  condolences to the bereaved family of Roman Soto Mercado; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Roman Mercado.
