SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 53
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Jody F. Brandon, who is retiring after three decades of
  outstanding service with the Dallas Independent School District;
  and
         WHEREAS, Jody Brandon joined the Dallas Independent School
  District in 1983 as a speech and language pathologist; she went
  on to serve as an assistant principal at several campuses before
  becoming principal of L. O. Donald Elementary School in 2008; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of her career, she has been an
  innovative and resourceful educator; while serving as a speech
  pathologist, she introduced such initiatives as a professional
  training program through which educators could learn to utilize
  picture communication systems with autistic students; and
         WHEREAS, Under her superior leadership, L. O. Donald
  Elementary School earned Recognized status from the Texas
  Education Agency and was named a Gold School Honoree by the
  United States Department of Agriculture; she helped the school to
  secure a wide range of supplemental educational programs, and she
  played an important role in making the school a vital part of the
  community by providing volunteer opportunities for parents and
  offering classes in English as a second language; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary educator and administrator, she is
  respected and admired by her colleagues and by the countless
  students whose lives she has touched, and her presence with the
  Dallas Independent School District will be greatly missed; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Jody F.
  Brandon on her exceptional service with the Dallas Independent
  School District and extend to her best wishes for continued
  success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
