SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 75
         WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is pleased to recognize Tuskegee
  Airman and Red Tail pilot Lieutenant Calvin J. Spann, who is
  being honored by Real Men Cook Dallas at the annual Father's Day
  event on June 16, 2013; and
         WHEREAS,
 
 
 
 
         WHEREAS, After receiving his wings as a Tuskegee Airman in
  1944, Lieutenant Spann was trained to fly the P-47 Thunderbolt
  and sent as a replacement pilot to the Ramitelli, Italy, Air Base
  with a training manual to fly the P-51 Mustang; and
         WHEREAS, He ended up flying 26 combat missions, including
  the longest and most historical mission of World War II, from
  Ramitelli to Berlin, Germany; he is among the elite group of
  pilots of the 332nd Fighter Group and the 100th Fighter Squadron
  who served under Colonel Benjamin O. Davis; and
         WHEREAS,
 
 
 
 
 
 
         WHEREAS,
 
 
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to Tuskegee
  Airman Lieutenant Calvin J. Spann on his outstanding service on
  behalf of our country and on his exemplary life and achievements
  and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in his
  honor and as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
