SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 117
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the Tomball High School Cougars baseball team, which
  recently won the 2013 Class 4A state championship title; and
 
         WHEREAS, The Cougars were successful in their first trip to
  the state baseball tournament and secured the school's first
  state championship in any sport by defeating Moody High School
  from Corpus Christi by a score of 6-1; and
 
         WHEREAS, These young student-athletes have demonstrated
  talent and perseverance over the course of the year, beginning
  the season with a 22-game winning streak and finishing with a
  record of 35-4; team members can all take great pride in their
  outstanding performance; and
 
         WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of
  head coach Doug Rush, the Cougars have developed exceptional
  teamwork and discipline; and
 
         WHEREAS, Tomball High School and the people of Tomball are
  proud of the Cougars for their hard work, their impressive
  skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend the Tomball High
  School Cougars baseball team on its successful season and extend
  congratulations to team members on winning the Class 4A state
  championship title; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
