SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 119
WHEREAS, In the aftermath of the tornado system that
devastated Moore, Oklahoma, Seth Ringley of McKinney led a relief
effort that provided hot meals to some 1,500 victims and
  volunteers; and

WHEREAS, Taking action soon after a massive tornado tore a
path of destruction across the town on May 20, 2013, Mr. Ringley
and two friends, Blake Giles and A. J. Newton, began collecting
donations from fellow residents in McKinney and organized a trip
to prepare fresh meals on-site at the scene of the disaster; they
set out on Memorial Day weekend, with Mr. Ringley's mother, Nina
  Ringley, and her friend, Julie Cooke, also joining the caravan;
  and

WHEREAS, Working until dark the first day and until they
exhausted their supplies on the second, the group assembled a
mobile food station and started cooking at the most heavily
damaged part of town, where Moore citizens were returning to the
wreckage of their homes to collect what belongings could be
salvaged; before the Texans' arrival, area residents were
largely relying on packaged foods, and the volunteers' meals of
smoked brisket, chicken, bread, and vegetables provided a
heartening respite from the difficult task at hand; during the
McKinney residents' visit, they also fed members of the Civil Air
Patrol at the National Guard Armory in Norman; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Ringley and his companions' campaign to help
the residents of Moore has continued since they left the town, as
following their initial call for aid, funds have poured in from
caring residents across McKinney and the Dallas-Fort Worth
Metroplex; as of June 6, more than $40,000 has been raised to
  provide additional support to persons impacted by the disaster;
  and

WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of McKinney, Mr. Ringley is a
business leader in the telecommunications industry, and he
formerly worked as an intern in the office of Ken Paxton during
his tenure as a member of the Texas House of Representatives; and

WHEREAS, In doing his part to uplift those whose lives were
rocked by a truly horrific tragedy, Seth Ringley offered
testimony to the most admirable quality of the human spirit, that
of selfless concern for others, and his actions are indeed
deserving of the highest praise; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Seth
Ringley for his contributions to the recovery work in Moore and
extend to him sincere best wishes for all the good fortune he so
richly deserves; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
prepared for Mr. Ringley as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas Senate.
