Alfonzo Hermosillo |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|
|
citizens of Fort Worth in mourning the loss of Alfonzo "Poncho" |
|
|
Hermosillo, who died June 6, 2013, at the age of 69; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Poncho Hermosillo was born on August 13, 1943; he |
|
|
grew up to become a successful floral designer and businessman |
|
|
and a leader in his community; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Poncho began his career in floral design in 1961 |
|
|
with Cox's Florists in Mineral Wells; he opened his own |
|
|
establishment in 1997 and quickly gained fame for his outstanding |
|
|
artistic designs and superior customer service; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was dedicated to his work, and as an |
|
|
accomplished designer and manager, he mentored and taught |
|
|
countless florists in the region and aided many in starting their |
|
|
own businesses; he was also a longtime leader in the Fort Worth |
|
|
Floral Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In addition, he was an active participant in a |
|
|
variety of other community activities; he coached children's |
|
|
baseball leagues, was a proud member of the Fort Worth Jaycees, |
|
|
and was a member of the Chula Chaser Motorcycle Club of Fort |
|
|
Worth; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He was an exemplary gentleman and was devoted to |
|
|
his wife, Michele, his daughters, Lori and Raechele, and his |
|
|
grandchildren, Gavin and Kaitlyn; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A talented, warm, and generous person, he gave |
|
|
willingly of his time to others; he had a good sense of humor and |
|
|
an engaging personality, and he leaves behind memories that will |
|
|
be treasured forever by all who were privileged to share in his |
|
|
life; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, |
|
|
83rd Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|
|
condolences to the bereaved family of Alfonzo Hermosillo; and, be |
|
|
it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the |
|
|
Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do |
|
|
so in memory of Poncho Hermosillo. |
