R E S O L U T I O N
 
         WHEREAS, Kathy Haynes has been presented with the Lifetime
  Achievement Award by the Tuloso-Midway Independent School District
  in recognition of her more than four decades of outstanding
  service; and
         WHEREAS, This dynamic educator graduated from San Jose State
  College in 1971 and began her career in the TMISD, teaching part of
  the day at Tuloso Midway High School and the rest at Clarkwood
  Elementary; over the next 42 years, she was a constant presence at
  the high school, where she served under 15 principals and 8
  superintendents; highly regarded for her creativity and her ability
  to engage her students' interest, she was named Teacher of the Year
  on several occasions, and in 2006 she was awarded a grant by the
  TMISD Education Foundation to support her innovative history
  instruction; and
         WHEREAS, While helping her students to acquire strong
  academic skills, Ms. Haynes also gave generously of her time as a
  sponsor for various student organizations; in particular, she
  devoted 27 years to leading the Tuloso Midway drill team, the
  Warriorettes; during her tenure with that group, the team performed
  at numerous events across the area, including the Buc Day Parade,
  the Northwest Christmas Parade, and the Cotton Bowl game; she also
  developed the routine with which the Warriorettes won third place
  at the National Drill Team Competition; and
         WHEREAS, For Ms. Haynes, Tuloso Midway was not only where she
  worked, it was also where she met her husband, Tommy Haynes, an
  agricultural science teacher; in addition, she made many lasting
  friendships on campus, and she saw her son, T. C. Haynes, graduate
  from the school in 2009; and
         WHEREAS, After spending her entire teaching career at Tuloso
  Midway High School, Ms. Haynes retired at the end of the 2012-2013
  school year; to recognize her exceptional commitment, the
  Tuloso-Midway ISD Board of Trustees established a Lifetime
  Achievement Award and honored Ms. Haynes as the first recipient
  during a ceremony on May 13, 2013; and
         WHEREAS, Kathy Haynes has made a positive impact on the lives
  of countless young Texans over the course of her long and fulfilling
  career, and she may reflect with great pride on her many
  achievements as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her
  life; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
  Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby congratulate Kathy Haynes
  on her receipt of the first Tuloso-Midway ISD Lifetime Achievement
  Award and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
  happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Haynes as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
